Wellspring Rhodiola rosea extract is of highest quality so it produces quick results, usually within a week. Wellspring Rhodiola rosea users frequently report increased energy and motivation, reduced anxiety, and elevated feelings of confidence and optimism.

ABOUT QUALITY: Not all Rhodiola rosea is of high quality. I sampled three varieties before I found a good one. The first one I purchased at Whole Foods had a strong odor that stayed with me all day. The second one gave me indigestion. The third one provided energy and some calm, but no buoyancy of mood and I really missed that aspect. This Wellspring extract is the one I settled on because it has all of the good qualities and none of the bad ones. I liked it so much I put my label on it. It is perfect and seems to be well tolerated by everyone who has tried it. Because it's a powdered extract, you get many more servings per bottle than with capsules.

"Rhodiola also won't help if you buy a bad product." - Newsweek Magazine, Feb. 3, 2003

Newsflash! A Sept.2012 study shows that Rhodiola alleviates nicotine withdrawals. It helps you stop smoking without the blues.

Rhodiola was featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show as an anti-aging herb in, "Reverse Your Aging Process," with Dr. Oz.

A Superherb

"I'm generally reluctant to over-hype herbs, but the claims for rhodiola are backed up by an impressive amount of scientific research. This really is a kind of superherb, which affects many different kinds of body processes and offers many different benefits." - Mark Blumenthal, Director of the American Botanical Council

How I Use It

I became interested in rhodiola when I started using it myself and quickly saw it's potential for my clients. Personally, I use it anytime I am stressed or need additional focus. Wellspring Rhodiola rosea creates a sense of calm and well-being; it excels in relieving stress and fatigue. I use it when I know I have a long day ahead of me. I find that it works great for PMS too. Although I am a cheerful person by nature, I have definitely noticed the mood-enhancing effects. These mood lifting qualities are more pronounced for people prone to the blues.

As a hypnotherapist I have noticed it really helps my clients with stress, especially as they stop smoking. Its effects are subtle but unmistakable. And luckily fast acting! You don't have to wait a month wondering if it will work. People usually notice it within days. After finally finding a good, high quality source that worked, I became a believer. Rhodiola is highly useful to my three largest client populations (smoking cessation, weight loss and stress relief), so I decided to make this quality extract available to these populations. They love it! And now you can try it too.

MOOD ENHANCEMENT - Research shows that it can increase brain serotonin activity by up to 30%. Rhodiola also increases the activity of other mood-related pleasure chemicals like dopamine and norepinephrine, and it creates a moderate endorphin response. Rhodiola stimulates the release of these good neurotransmitters, down-regulates the enzymes that break them down and also increases the blood-brain permeability for these molecules. Russian research suggests that Rhodiola rosea induces opioid peptide biosynthesis. The result is mood enhancement and stress reduction.

STRESS REDUCTION - Rhodiola rosea is a non-specific adaptogen. That means that it helps the body adapt to a variety of stressors in a general, non-specific way. This even includes chemical stressors such as chemotherapy. It balances and modulates the central nervous system probably through the same pathways mentioned above.

WEIGHT LOSS - Studies also show that Rhodiola rosea may be effective in promoting weight loss by stimulating the "lipolytic processes," boosting metabolism and enhancing exercise ability. It seems to have the ability to mobilize adipose tissue and activate adipose lipase, a key enzyme required to burn the body's fat stores. This process helps to stimulate the natural fat burning system in your body that is needed for weight reduction.

"Rhodiola appears to boost calorie-burning potential by at least 10%, and by as much as 70% during physical activity," reports researcher Richard Brown, M.D.

PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE - Rhodiola rosea helps athletes in at two ways: it increases oxygen utilization in the muscles and it increases production of high-energy molecules called ATP and creatine phosphate in the mitochondria of the cells. This results in greater endurance, speed, coordination and a faster recovery. It even protects against the damaging effects of oxygen deprivation at high altitudes and has been used by mountain climbers to prevent altitude sickness. My NLP teacher, Tom Best, says he uses it when he goes to the Peruvian Andes where altitude sickness can ruin a perfectly good vacaion!

FIGHT FATIGUE - Rhodiola rosea is well studied in regard to its ability to reduce fatigue and increase stamina. There have also been studies showing that this plant has great utility in asthenic conditions (decline in work performance, sleep disturbances, poor appetite, irritability, hypertension, headaches, and fatigue) developing subsequent to intense physical or intellectual strain, viruses, and other illness. Dr. Patricia Gerbard used it successfully to overcome chronic fatigue from Lyme disease. Medical interns who must work long shifts in stressful conditions have used it with great success.

Safe and Well-Tolerated

According to psycho-pharmacologist, Dr. Richard P. Brown, Rhodiola rosea is very safe and well tolerated. Side effects are rare. Dr. Brown finds that it does not interact with other medications although it may have an additive effect with stimulants like caffeine. In fact, many people report that they drink less coffee with Rhodiola rosea. Dr. Brown suggests that people with bipolar disorders should not take rhodiola rosea. It's always a good idea to tell you doctor of any changes in your health regiment. Do not use if you are pregnant.

Client Recommendations

ENERGY & FOCUS

"Wow, I am impressed with the Rhodiola. My focus/memory, stress, fatigue, mood and physical endurance all improved greatly. I really noticed a big difference in my energy and focus the most. I would say the stress and mood go hand in hand with improvement. I seem to be able to manage the stress better which helps with my mood. Throughout a very hectic day this past week, I was able to keep focused, remain calm and still handle the stress along the way. I would be interested in getting more of this..." - Katie, Financial Consultant

REDUCTION OF ANTI-ANXIETY DRUGS (under physician's care)

"I tried the first dose in my PB&J sandwich this a.m. & have noticed that I'm not as fatigued as under normal circumstances 9 hours later. I also didn't have to have my noon-ish Coke, either. I'm definitely more alert but not feeling the constant adrenaline rush like I normally do, either. I definitely feel way less stressed than normal, even during my most stressful work schedule & continued reduction of the antianxiety drugs." - Nicole Williams, Revenue Accountant

Note: Nicole used Rhodiola as she weaned herself off of a prescription anti-anxiety drug, and it seems to be working well for her. This was her decision, and her medical doctor was aware of it.

STAMINA & ENERGY

"I started taking the Rhodiola rosea in the morning before work at the hair salon. I find that it gives me more stamina being on my feet all day, sometimes for ten hours. I especially notice it on days when I skip breakfast, and I am not able to eat until 4 pm or so. On those days I used to drag so much that my body would slow down and my appointments would run 15 minutes late all day. Now with the Rhodiola rosea, even when I skip breakfast, I have plenty of energy and I keep myself paced and focused throughout the day without slowing down. And my mood is better at the end of a long day with the rhodiola. That's a big plus. I would recommend this to fellow hair stylists and any other occupation who are on their feet all day. It works. " - Robert Alvarado, Hair Stylist at Jodie's Salon

WAKE UP EARLY

"My alarm goes off at 4:30 a.m. these days! The Rhodiola rosea really helps me feel awake and engaged by the time I leave the house for that early shift." - Dave B., Coffee Shop Barista

STAYING POWER

"During the end of the trial week, I traveled to another state to attend meetings that were expected to be somewhat challenging and stressful. The schedule was tight and I ended up averaging about 4 hours a night of sleep during the trip. That was when I noticed the effects of rhodiola most, under the more stressful conditions. Taking it on an empty stomach with a little fruit, it hit very quickly (within fifteen minutes) and palpably, with a general sense of energy and mental acuity, allowing me to meaningfully participate without fatigue or a drop in my level of focus, during a meeting that lasted almost eight hours." - Content Knowles, Business Owner, Professional Actress

SIMILAR TO VALIUM?

"I'm definitely more cheerful and relaxed in general. Also much more willing to say "I don't care" and not to worry about stuff. Easier to stop and relax, take the pace a little gentler. Valium has a similar pleasant effect on me, but I haven't had the lethargy that comes with the Valium." - Lillith Avalon, Project Manager

MORE PRODUCTIVE

"The time when I most noticed the effects of Rhodiola, however, was at the end of the day - when the stresses of work were behind me and I was free to use my time as I saw fit. Normally, after a long day of work, nothing sounds better to me than kicking back and relaxing in front of the TV. However, I was amazed to find that even after a long day and a long commute, I got home and I still had energy, alertness and inclination to work on personal projects and do other things that were more demanding, yet more rewarding, than sitting in front of the tube." - Christopher R. Erickson, Software Programmer

LESS TENSE IN TRAFFIC

"Thank you for the info on the Rhodiola rosea.... this is kinda funny, my driving has improved. I noticed I'm not as tense. When I'm tensed, I'm usually speeding. I feel like everyone is racing against me and I cannot stand to be in the slow lane. Now I'm driving in the slow lane and doing the speed limit! I'm in no hurry or rush to get to where I'm going anymore. Now I'm more punctual, calm and relaxed." - Diomar Barroga, Financial Aide Administrator

STOPPED SMOKING

"I just wanted to let you know that I am doing well. I have had only very few "cravings" (extremely mild) and more importantly the severity of the withdrawal symptoms have been greatly reduced. I have never felt this well during the initial period following smoking cessation. The combination of the hypnosis and the Rhodiola rosea are doing the job. Thanks again!" - Joe Capello, Systems Analyst

AVOID CONFRONTATIONS

"Rhodiola allows me to get up early and get to feeling like I am rolling sooner in the day. In the morning I can successfully push myself a bit more with R. rosea. Specific results have included days of getting 3-4 times the normal [clothes] mending done. The mending just wasn't getting done before I started taking Rhodiola rosea. I feel more focused. Probably the most impressive result occurred with a recent interpersonal confrontation being unlike previous similar encounters, with a surprising amount of poise available, along with a rewarding detachment from engaging confrontationally as a reflexive response. Nice." - Sheilagh, Technology Researcher

END WORRYING

"I find myself not in so much of a hurry, worrying about what comes next, but still productive and reasonably focused. Is this what it feels like to be 'normal'? I've spent so much of my life stressed and tied up in knots; this could take some getting used to. But it is undoubtedly a good change of state for me." - Lillith Avalon, Project Manager

MORE PATIENCE

"We carved pumpkins last night and I was able to relax into a creative process more readily than usual. Also was more tolerant of the kids' foibles in their pumpkin process. The results of their carving were beautiful so I'm really glad I was able to just let them DO without interfering. My impatience or worry about safety often gets the better of me and that didn't happen last night. I noticed that I especially enjoyed the sensation of holding J's hand last night and that I am relaxing into hugs more fully." - Lillith Avalon, Project Manager

REDUCE CAFFEINE

"One of the first things I discovered taking Rhodiola, [was that] I didn't really want to have any caffeine. Perhaps it's less that the Rhodiola gave me 'extra' energy, but that it helped me lose less of the energy I had throughout the day. It's as if the reason I drank coffee was to give me a "boost" and keep me up over the rocky landscape of work; whereas with Rhodiola the stresses of the day got "evened out" so that the normal energy I had was more than enough to last me throughout the day."- Christopher R. Erickson, Software Programmer

END OBSESSIVE THOUGHTS

"On the last two days I also noticed a decline in the obsessive list making and replaying of the list in my head, which typically occurs at bedtime. I've actually been able to fall asleep a couple of nights without a book on tape in my ear to distract the obsessive brain activity. This is practically miraculous."- Lillith Avalon, Project Manager

SHARPEN FOCUS

"I took [the] rhodiola over the period of about a week... I found that there was a cumulative effect - by the end of the week, within a half an hour (at the outside) of taking the powder (generally on a mostly empty stomach) I would feel a perceptible change in my level of mental focus. This mostly occurred as a noticeable sharpening or honing or my mental faculty, a sense that the synapses were firing on all cylinders. At the same time, I felt a wakefulness and balancing of physical energies - nothing extreme (such as one would expect from a central nervous system stimulant) but rather, a subtle shift or recalibration." - Content Knowles, Professional Actress

IMPROVE MEMORY

"In regard to memorization, I found that the rhodiola was a very specific aid to the process. Normally, it takes me two to four sessions to memorize a series of passages or lines. However, I found that with rhodiola in my system, that got cut to one to two sessions, with greater accuracy/retention than usual, particularly in regard to volume of material mastered and specificity of detail." - Content Knowles, Professional Actress

Wellspring Rhodiola rosea extract is of highest quality so it produces quick results, usually within a few days. Wellspring Rhodiola rosea users report increased energy and motivation, reduced anxiety, and elevated feelings of confidence and optimism.

Directions for use: The serving size for most people is approximately 1/4 - 1/2 of a scoop. This is around 100 - 200 mg. This is the serving size for an average sized person. Do not exceed 3/4 scoop.

Most people notice the effects within days, but it could take one week. If you are not feeling anything after a week, you may slowly increase the serving size to 1/2 scoop, but never exceed 1 scoop. Be conservative and be patient. The effect is subtle and yet unmistakable. Often it will sneak up on you and you will suddenly realize, "Hm. I have been feeling good lately."

Wellspring Rhodiola rosea extract has a mildly earthy, bitter taste and smells like roses. It is not meant to be tasted, but swallowed in the back of the throat like a shot glass of tequila. The powdered form works quickly and more reliably than capsules because it enters the stomach faster. Rhodiola synergizes well with caffeine so you get more "bang for your buck," and you need less caffeine. Rhodiola helps prevents fatigue but it does not give a jittery energy like caffeine does. It gives a whole-body energy like you feel when you are well-rested and fresh.

Ancient History of Use

Rhodiola rosea has been used in European medicine for over 3,000 years. Those who drank the tea were believed to live to be 100. In ancient times it was so valued that it was traded in Greece thousands of miles from where it originated in the arctic mountains of Russia and Scandinavia. Rhodiola rosea is featured in the Greek story of Jason and the Argonauts as an aid to strength in battle. The Vikings of Scandinavia relied on this root for strength and endurance on long voyages. The ancient Chinese who were experts in herbal remedies referred to it as "Golden Root" because it was valued more than gold. Chinese emperors would send expeditions to Siberia to bring this rare arctic root back. The knowledge of where to harvest the plant was a closely guarded secret shared by just a few families over the centuries.

This history of secrecy continued into the modern era during the Cold War. When Communist scientists in Russia discovered the herb they kept it a secret from the Western world. Behind the Iron Curtain, Russian scientists studied Rhodiola rosea's many benefits and gave it to their Olympic athletes who became world famous for their strength and grace during this period. The Russians also gave it to the cosmonauts on the spacecraft Mir for its stress and anxiety relieving effects on long missions.

Lucky for us, the Cold War has ended and the secret of Rhodiola rosea is out. Now scientists all over the world are actively studying how Rhodiola rosea does what it does so well. Today you don't have to be a Russian athlete or a Chinese Emperor to benefit from this amazing herb. It's available to all and Wellspring Rhodiola is very high-grade extract of the herb.

Other names for Rhodiola rosea include Golden Root, Rosenrod, Rose Root, Snow Rose and Rosenroot. It's called rose root or rosenroot because the yellow flowers smell like roses and it was once used as a substitute for rose oil. Dr. Andrew Weil praises rhodiola in his book, Healthy Aging, where he refers to it as arctic root.

A superb book on the subject is the recently published, The Rhodiola Revolution by noted psychologists, Dr. Richard P. Brown, M.D. and Dr. Patricia L. Gerbarg, M.D. Another expert on rhodiola, Dr. Ramazanov, has written some excellent books including, Arctic Root and Rhodiola Rosea for Chronic Stress Disorder.

Note: Despite Rhodiola rosea's history of safety, no herb is recommended during pregnancy. Always consult your physician before taking any herbs, especially when you are pregnant.
